Nothing can beat a perfect red lipstick, I own far too many red lipsticks to count and even have a few more reds I wouldn't mind adding to the collection.
I don't wear red lipstick very often, I like to save it for special occasions and events that I attend as personally I don't think I could pull it off on a day to day basis.

I honestly think that you can never have too many red lipsticks, purely because not all are the same - you could find yourself an amazing dupe of a lipstick but every single one is different in their own ways.
For me, what makes a good red lippie is the consistency, formulation and how long it's going to last throughout the day, especially as I only tend to wear them on special occasions.
Over the years I've found some incredible red lipsticks which I now call them the 'perfect reds' - All of them are very different to each other and I love them all.
Avon Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick / Ruby Shock* - This lipstick I would describe to be a deep solid red with a creamy finish, it's very pigmented and the consistency is very smooth and buttery. It does not contain any shimmer in it and the lasting power of this is normally a good few hours unless you're eating then that may be slightly less. It's not drying on the lips whatsoever and it's very longlasting.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick / Fire & Ice - Fire & Ice is a warm toned Red, it's also a creamy finish lipstick which means no shimmer again. This lipstick is slightly softer, though it is still long lasting and very hydrating on the lips. The formulation is also great, not to dry and also applies really smoothly.

Oriflame More By Demi Lipstick / Coral Red - Part of the Oriflame More By Demi collection this lipstick is a coral red shade, as the name states.  It's once again a creamy finish and has more of an orange tone to it. The texture of this is smooth, glides on easily, highly pigmented and also moisturising on the lips.
The only downside to this lipstick is that being part of the Oriflame range it cannot always be found.

L'Oreal Paris Stain Splash / Princess - As this is more of a lip stain the consistency of this is very glossy, it's also more sheer and a lot less pigmented, however if you really build up the colour then you will get a red/coral shade. The consistency is quite thin but very hydrating on the lips, it's also quite long lasting - Though I wouldn't quite say it's long lasting enough to stay put all day long.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer / Big Bang - This liquid lipstick is very pigmented and you only really need a light swipe of this and you're good to go. I love using this when I want something that's going to last me all through the day. The consistency is creamy, very pigmented, really hydrating and long lasting on the lips and I'd describe this shade to be a true red.

Do you have a favourite red?..
